Likewater ("we") provides the iOS apps EverRecall and BookCapture (the "Apps"). This policy explains what data the Apps handle.
We use a dedicated third-party subscription management service to handle subscription purchases and restores. Transaction information tied to your Apple ID (purchase and renewal status) is sent to that service solely to determine your active entitlement (subscription status). We do not use this information for any other purpose.
EverRecall does not include any analytics SDK that collects usage data, nor any advertising tracking SDK.
We use Apple's MetricKit to record a summary of crash diagnostics locally on your device only. This record is never automatically transmitted off your device, and you can review it from the Settings screen.
EverRecall can watch an import folder in iCloud Drive (via the Files app) and turn any text file (.txt / .md) you place there into cards. This folder is synced by Apple's iCloud and does not pass through our servers. We do not use iCloud for any other purpose.
Your cards and review history are stored only on your device (using SwiftData, with no cloud sync). This data is never uploaded to our servers.
EverRecall does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, or contacts.
Photos of book pages taken with the camera are first saved locally on your device.
When you run transcription, that image is sent to a relay server we operate, which forwards it to a third-party AI service to generate the text transcription. Our relay server does not store the image or the transcription result — it only retains device authentication data and rate-limit counters. Transmission only happens when you choose to run transcription.
Book titles, authors, ISBNs, transcribed text, and captured images are stored in a local database on your device.
BookCapture does not currently have any in-app purchase feature, so no purchase information is handled.
As with EverRecall, we use Apple's MetricKit to record crash summaries locally on your device only.
Because captured images are stored in the app's normal storage area, they may be included in your device backup if you have iCloud Backup or another backup method enabled. This is a result of Apple's standard device backup mechanism, not active syncing or collection on our part.
The Apps are not directed at children under the age of 13.
We may update this policy as the Apps' features change. If we make a material change, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
